Beautiful trek
in one of the best places in the world
Our 4-day Amalfi Coast Trekking will let you discover the beauties of the area, away from the crowd and traffic. We will hike along mountain paths and old mule tracks that connect all the villages and towns of the Amalfi Coast.
This is an itinerary designed for you to visit and get to know the Amalfi Coast on foot. Walk through paths used for centuries to transport goods and food from one village to another, to sell the products of the land in the markets.
Highlights
We will go from a town in the mountains to a seaside village; we will visit Churches and Museums; we will know the history of these places that have seen the passage of European and Mediterranean civilizations; without forgetting one of the most important moments of every trip: food and wine!
We will stay in different accommodation: hotels and B&B.
Possibility of being able to swim almost every day.
We will travel along the chain of the Lattari Mountains: starting from Cava de’ Tirreni, we will pass through the millenary Benedictine Abbey, up to the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell’Avvocata, overlooking the Amalfi Coast.
The Amalfi Coast Trekking tour will allow us to visit the seaside villages of Maiori, Minori and Atrani; the first Maritime Republic of Italy: Amalfi; the ancient Ravello and its marvelous Villas. We will walk on the spectacular Path of Gods, arriving in the “Vertical City” of Positano, a favorite destination of the jet set, both Italian and foreigner.

Cava de’ Tirreni – Avvocata Sanctuary – Maiori
Morning pick-up from your hotel or prearranged meeting point to the 11th-century Benedictine Abbey of Cava de’ Tirreni.
We begin with a guided tour of the Abbey visiting its cloister, catacombs and small museum. Afterwards, we start our trek towards the so called Old Chapel (max. 1,5 hrs), half way to Mount Avvocata.
Trekking Mount Avvocata is a classic route with stunning views over the Gulf of Salerno and the Amalfi Coast. Every Monday, after the Christian holiday of Pentecost, the Monastery on Mount Avvocata is reached by thousands of pilgrims from Cava de’ Tirreni and Maiori to renew their devotion to the Virgin Mary.
It starts at 380 meters above sea level hiking through chestnut woods, oak forests, with olive groves, lemon trees, and pastures in the Mediterranean bush. The trail leads over a rocky ridge to the west from which you will arrive at the top of Mount Avvocata at 1014 meters above sea level, and reach the Sanctuary; take in the views, have your lunch and rest, before taking the downhill path that will take us in the center of Maiori, where the first day ends.
Meals included: Boxed Lunch.
Maiori – Minori – Ravello – Atrani – Amalfi
After breakfast, we begin our second day on the Lattari Mountains.
From Maiori we walk via the Lemons’ Trail through the picturesque villages of Minori, Ravello, Atrani and Amalfi.
In Minori, we will stop at De Riso pastry shop for an excellent slice of lemon cake of the Amalfi Coast.
Then, through ancient stairs we will first reach Ravello, where we can take a coffee in the elegant Piazza Duomo, and after we will reach the beautiful Atrani, set in the rock; finally, through a comfortable and unique path between the roofs and the courtyards of the houses, we will arrive in the center of the queen of the coast, the magnificent Amalfi where you can visit the Duomo or simply stroll among the many shops of the ancient historical center.
Transfer back to Maiori, to our overnight accommodation.
Meals included: Breakfast, and Boxed Lunch.
Amalfi – Mills Valley – Agerola
Check out after breakfast and take a transfer back to Amalfi, and walk up to reach the trail to the Mills’ Valley.
You will climb the ancient stairs and paths, amid lemon trees full of springs and waterfalls amid high cliffs. Within the deep valley we will see several examples of industry from as early as the 10th century, such as the remains of an old aqueduct and ironworks. There are also ruins of several paper factories that remain one of the few links to the history of wealth and power of the medieval Republic of Amalfi.
On the Valley of the Mills there’s a subtropical microclimate, where you may find Cyclamen, Wild Orchids, Pterris vittata, Pinguicula hirtiflora (a carnivorous plant), Woodwardia Radicans, and Erica terminalis (a rare species of the giant fern which has its origins in the tertiary period).
From there we get on another trail that will take us up to the town of Agerola, where we will spend the night.
Overnight accommodation.
Meals included: Breakfast, and Boxed Lunch.
Path of Gods – Positano
Today we enjoy a pleasant hike on the most famous trail on the Amalfi Coast: the Path of the Gods (Italian: Sentiero degli Dei). Walking across the mountainside, at the foot of the Sant’Angelo a Tre Pizzi mountain, we will admire one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the world.
It starts from the square in the hamlet of Bomerano in Agerola. On the first part offers outstanding views of Praiano, Positano, Li Galli islets, and Capri, and the Grotta Biscotto, an old shepherds shelter, built into the rock and inhabited since Prehistoric times.
Along the way we walk in the shade of elm and oak trees surrounded by myrtle and juniper; cross wild precipices full of caves and small vineyards. Here is where the ped’ e palomma grapes are harvested.
During the guided hike, we meet a local shepherd, who will share with us freshly made goat cheese and a glass of red wine.
Less than 3 hours to reach the small village of Nocelle with Monte Pertuso in front of us, and we have 1,000 steps going down, arriving in the center of Positano. Once there, you may choose to wander its narrow streets or enjoy an espresso and pastry at a local cafe.
The Trekking itinerary will end after we take a transfer to your overnight accommodation, in Salerno and/or Naples.
Meals included: Breakfast, Boxed Lunch & Cheese tasting

10 out of 10! Gaetano was the most amazing guide — our tour of Southern Italy was absolutely perfect from start to finish! If you’re looking for an authentic Italian experience filled with delicious food, welcoming locals, and unforgettable off-the-beaten-path adventures, Gaetano is the guide for you. We had such a wonderful time and can’t wait to plan our next Italian journey… I think a Puglia food & wine tour might have to be next! Grazie mille, Gaetano — sei il migliore! 🥰🇮🇹🙏✨Posted on Google![]()

I highly recommend Gaetano Barone and GOINITALY Tours! This is the second tour I have taken with Gaetano. The first one was a small group 9 day pre organized tour in Puglia and this recent tour was a 9 day 3 person curated tour just for myself and two friends in the Compania region and Cilento area! We agreed on 2 home bases, one in Cava de Tirreni, a hillside town, just 35-45 mins from Naples and another at a GORGEOUS and RELAXING Agriturismo Farm-house Corte di Plano in Santa Barbara di Ceraso! All the food was delicious and accommodations were lovely and quite comfortable!! Gaetano is easy to travel with, knowledgeable, fun, friendly and considerate! A Great mix of beautiful gardens, art, nature, hiking, incredible history, less touristy local sights, lovely generous people and fabulous food!! Grazie Mille Gaetano for another FABULOUS TRIP!Posted on Google![]()

Gaetano put together the most amazing 10 day package for us. He drove us everywhere and made sure our accommodations and food were perfect. He took us places we wouldn’t have even thought about that were off the beaten path. We didn’t have to do anything but enjoy ourselves! We had a great time, shared lots of laughs and created wonderful memories. Definitely recommend!Posted on Google![]()

My son and I hiked The Path of the Gods last year, and it was an amazing experience. We had Gaetano to accompany us, and it was well worthy. Gaetano is very friendly; he knows extremely well the history of the area and he is very much engaged with the local communities. Apart from the breath-taking view around every bend, the highlight of the hike was a visit to an old shepherd’s hut. The local sheep man was very kind to offer us some goat cheese, salami, and homemade bread. As you can see my son was very pleased. I highly recommend Gaetano if you want to visit this part of Italy.Posted on Google![]()

Gaetano is an extraordinary guide and took us on the Path of the Gods hike in October. He’s friendly, knowledgeable & was attentive to our safety. The views are spectacular, especially when you reach the point for a full panoramic view of the Amalfi coast. Gaetano had many interesting facts he shared about the history of this region and we had a delicious lunch at the Shepard’s home just off the path. This was quite an experience filled with musical instruments for all to join in, lunch from their garden and great homemade wine. Gaetano is well-connected and experienced…and fun!! We had a wonderful time! Lisa & Gary G.Posted on Google![]()

My positive experience with GoInItaly started well before we arrived in the Amalfi coast. I was wary initially because I knew nothing about this tour company. I corresponded with Gaetano via email multiple times firming up the details of our private Path of the Gods hike. He was patient and thorough when answering my many questions. The more we communicated, the more confident I became that I was making the right choice. It turned out that he was an incredible find! Gaetano was extremely personable and knowledgeable. He turned our hike, our experience at the Shepard’s Hut and transport to/from our lodging into a highlight and extremely memorable part of our trip. Later in our stay, on a questionable weather day, Gaetano picked up 6 of us and turned this gray day into a fun filled adventure. Not only did he take us to view some requested tourist spots, like the Fiordo di Furore and Grotta dello Smeraldo, but when the weather did not cooperate and the crowds were too large in Amalfi, he saved the day by rerouting us to explore some smaller towns like Maiori where we enjoyed lunch and the gorgeous ocean views. I would recommend that you utilize Gaetano’s services for any of the activities outlined on the GoInItaly webpage or for any customized touring adventures that you might dream up on your own.Posted on Google![]()

Gaetano guided us from Sorrento to Positano to Almalfi, where we hiked to the Mills Valley. The hike was beautiful and included historic sites. He arranged for us to have lunch on a farm — such a nice change from crowded restaurants and so delicious! Gaetano is both knowledgeable and easy to be with. We thoroughly enjoyed his company. Our day with him was one of our favorite experiences during our two week vacation in Italy. Highly recommend!Posted on Google![]()
